Services
Depending on your project's size and complexity, you may require all of the services listed below. Or ... you may only require assistance with some of these. Please contact me to discuss your requirements and project details.
Design Meetings
Meetings with architects, designers, engineers and/or owners:
-
Establish project goals such as aesthetics, functional requirements, target light levels, controls, code requirements, energy efficiency targets, etc.
-
Review preliminary lighting solutions and proposed fixtures/controls
-
Review final lighting solutions and proposed fixtures/controls

Verifying Code Requirements for Lighting and Controls
Review of applicable code requirements for lighting fixtures/lamps, power density, required controls, normal and emergency egress lighting/controls, etc.

Conceptual/Schematic Design
Create preliminary lighting designs showing which surfaces will be illuminated and how light is propagated throughout the space

Lighting Design Development
Create drawings showing proposed fixture locations and fixture types

Computerized Photometric Calculations
Running computer calculations to verify interior or exterior light levels. This includes calculations to verify:
-
Compliance with design intent
-
Energy code compliance
-
Compliance with "normal" and "emergency" egress lighting requirements (e.g., NFPA 101)

Lighting Plans and Specifications
Lighting plans typically show:
-
Luminaire locations
-
Fixture types
-
Control zone notations
-
Any required delineation of controls zones (such as daylight or occupancy zones)
-
Lighting control devices
-
Also provide written specifications and cut sheets for proposed fixtures

Renderings
Visualizations of interior and exterior spaces showing proposed lighting

Control Schedules
Schedules and other descriptive information such as:
-
Control schedules (including loads, switch legs, control zones, etc.)
-
Official/required documentation, such as ... "Control Intent Narrative", "Sequence of Operations", "Basis of Design", etc.
-
Catalog sheets of proposed control devices
-
Documentation for networked control systems (wiring diagrams, one-line drawings, etc.)

Custom Fixture Design
Detail drawings for submission to fabricators

Mock-ups
To explore design options, including fixture and lamp type, distribution, color, intensity, etc.

Shop Drawing Review
Approving/disapproving submittal packages, including potential substitutions

Focusing Adjustable Fixtures
Aiming all adjustable luminaires such as recessed accent lights, track lights, etc.:
-
Aiming angles
-
Correct lamping (with proper light distribution)
-
Addition of any secondary optics (such as lenses, screens, etc.)
-
Setting appropriate dimming levels
